Citrus Lane Box Review - August 2013

I apologize for the late review of the Citrus Lane box we received this month. Overall, I'm unimpressed by the choices this month. Nothing seemed especially exciting to me. The book was so-so. The stacking toy was nothing special. I was sent a bottle strap that was clearly meant for a girl. The outfits available on FabKids are not my style. The orange-vanilla scent of the wipes is too strong. I haven't tried using the diaper cream yet. Am I being too critical or was this month's box a flop?

My Lucky Little Dragon - Joyce Wan

I just pre-ordered Joyce Wan's "My Lucky Little Dragon" for Parks. I love her illustrations and Parks is a golden dragon baby so it's a perfect fit. I can't wait to get it in January!

Dad or Playground?

Poor Tuan. Parker likes to climb all over him and sometimes the results are painful. I've received my fair share of kicks and hits to the face too. Glad it's not me the photos below!

Side note: Parker can go from belly to sitting on his own now.

Zara Mini Collection

Zara just launched their "mini" collection. I don't how it is different from their kids collection but it's adorable, as expected. They do such a good job designing their baby shoes. Love it!

Dressing Parker for a Summer Wedding

[Worst model ever. He kept wanting to eat his shoes.]

My cousin is getting married this Saturday in San Diego and Mr. P is ready to rock this dressy casual outfit. It's going to be a long day so I want to make sure he stays cool and comfortable. The day is going to start at 8 AM with tea ceremony, followed by a church ceremony and a lunch reception. We are so excited for Tuyen and Andy to finally tie the knot! Can't want to see my family this weekend.

*Parker's shoes are actually from Gap but I couldn't find them online anymore. My sister made him a pink bow tie to match the wedding colors.

Creativity Can Campaign + Free Coupon for Your Own Creativity Can

Have you heard of the creativity can? Neither had I until I received my daily newsletter from A-List Moms. As a response to a study that revealed that creativity in kids is on the decline, Creavity for Kids has launched a "creativity comeback"! As a lover of all things crafty I absolutely love this idea. The Creativity Can is available at most Gepetto's locations in San Diego.

From their website

Starting with the premise that “creativity can make anything possible,” we developed the “Creativity Can™.” This is an actual cardboard can filled with pom poms, wood sticks, googly eyes, feathers and other colorful materials that stimulate kids to use their imaginations and create whatever they like. The materials, though simple and familiar, are thoughtfully selected to inspire maximum creativity. The only instructions are to have fun and be as creative as you can be. There is no right or wrong way to use the materials. So far, we”ve even seen children using the can itself and the results are awesome. Kids have created amazing, fantastic and unique objects and characters, often with imaginative narratives. Our goal is that thousands of kids will enjoy this experience, share their creations with others and demonstrate the tremendous power and joy of creativity.
Creativity Can Creation
The Creativity Can is available FREE this spring and summer at participating retailers in the US and Canada. To find a store in your area along with all the information you need about how to be part of the creativity comeback, go to creativtitycan.com. Because we know how much children love to share their creations, we”ve set up a site for them to post their pictures and also to see what thousands of other kids have done. Each time someone shares their creation, Creativity for Kids will make a donation to the LilySarahGraceFund, which supplies art and creativity materials to under-funded public elementary schools around the country. Every child also has a chance to be selected in a monthly drawing for FREE Creativity for Kids products.

Help! My "Kids" Turned into Dogs

I remember the days before Parker when I would come home from work and greet Frank and Beans before I did anything else. We would go running together, I would give them mani pedis, feed them dog ice cream and post photos of them on my FB page daily. Those days are long gone and sometimes I get overwhelmed with guilt over the fact that I do not have time to bond with them like I used to. When did my "kids" turn into dogs? I feel like there should be a special program for pet parents who have to transition to becoming real parents. Can someone please start something like that?
