2020 New Year's Resolutions

Happy 2020! Writing New Year's Resolution posts have become a welcomed time for me to reflect on the past year and what I've been able to accomplish. This year I missed every single resolution I set for 2019.

Every. Single. One.

But you know what I did manage? I managed to BF Harrison until his first birthday after s t r u g g l i n g through a year of low milk supply. I fit into some of my old jeans but have a long way before I lose the baby weight. Parker knows how to read and spell and is excelling at math. He's also becoming a sweat in Fortnite. I knomari'ed our belongings and donated so much. Harrison has his new hearing aid in and keep us on on our toes.  Tuan continues to be our rock and the more responsible parent, always hustling, always making moves, always keeping everyone looking fresh. I started a new position at work and am no longer managing events. For the first time in my professional life I feel like a complete newbie and am out of my comfort zone.

So much growth has happened this year and I'm looking looking forward to building on that growth in 2020. Cheers to a new decade everyone!

2019 Resolutions Recap

1. Read 25 books.
Something about having a new busy baby and starting a new position at work really cut into my reading time this year. I didn't hit goal but I did manage to read 15 books. Recommendations: Dopesick by Beth Macy, Becoming by Michelle Obama, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee.

2. Get rid of acne scars with aggressive face peels.
Harrison is (mostly) off the boob and I can start this now!

3. Finish 12 weeks of BBG.
This definitely didn't happen. Not even a little. However, I have purchased a subscription to the new Sweat app so 2020 will be the year.

4. Go on hot dates with Tuan at least once a month.
We don't get to spend as much one on one time together as we would like but we managed to see a Trevor Noah comedy show and visit some local restaurants together. I have to say that I love all the gray streaks showing up in Tuan's hair.

2020 Resolutions

1. Read 20 books

2. Finish 12 weeks of BBG

3. Take the Chuao chocolate food tour

4. Visit 2 new cities

2019 New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year!! I know some people say, "Don't make resolutions! You don't need that kind of pressure." But I have always been a goal oriented person and I find that setting resolutions at the beginning of the year helps me stay focused and on-course. I don't beat myself up if I don't meet my goals. Remember that one from two years ago about being able to do 5 pull ups? HAHAHAHA. That's never going to happen but I don't feel bad about it. Be happy with where you are and celebrate if you make improvements!

2018 Resolutions Recap

1. Read 25 books. After last year's NYE drunk reading saga, I was determined not to wait until the last minute to hit my reading goal. At the time of this post, I have read 37 books. Here are some of my faves.

Made me laugh: Born a Crime, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Made me think:  Just Mercy, Where the Crawdads Sing

Made me cry: The Hate U Give

Made me inspired: The Boys in the Boat, Bobby Kennedy: A Raging Spirit

2. Get rid of my cystic acne and acne scars. This is a tough one but I am a woman on a mission! This year I invested in myself and my face and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've been seeing Amy at Eco Chateau for bi-weekly facials and my skin is better than it was but we had to be careful about what products/treatments we were using due to the pregnancy.

3. Lose 25 pounds and overall be healthier. Welp, this did not happen. Instead of losing weight I became pregnant and gained 30 pounds. I may not be thinner but I have the world's cutest baby!

4. 10,000 steps a day. I was really good about this until the end of my pregnancy when my feet started swelling like crazy and the only footwear that I could wear comfortably were Sanuk sandals.

5. Work on professional growth. I really worked hard on this one and it paid off! I won an Excellence in Marketing award this year at our annual marketing conference. Reading Great at Work changed the way approached my work and inspired me to rethink the processes I used to accomplish projects and work with different teams. I also embraced mentoring some of my younger colleagues which has been fulfilling. **Patting myself on the back**

Alright, now let's get to it. What am I going to do to improve myself in 2019?

2018 is Going to be a Good Year

Before we dive into my 2018 resolutions, let's do a quick recap of how I did in 2017.

2017 Resolutions Recap
1. Be able to do 5 pull ups.
HAHAHAHA this definitely didn't happen but I'll try again in 2018.
2. Read 30 books.
Let's talk about how close I was to accomplishing this. I was MIA on social media for the last 2 weeks of the year because I was so busy trying to reach this goal. By midnight, I had read 29.5 books and then woke up at 6 AM  New Years Day to finish the last 100 pages. So. Freaking. Close. If you would like to see what's on my reading list for 2018, you can find me on GoodReads
3. Explore 3 new cities.
Nashville, Honolulu and Maui.
4. Post twice a month.
I failed again at this and promise to be better-ish in 2018!
5. Learn how to use a curling iron.
Technically I did not learn how to use a curling iron but I did learn how to curl my hair with a curling wand. I'm going to call this one a win!

2018 Resolutions

2. Get rid of my cystic acne and acne scars. This is a tough one but I am a woman on a mission!

Two out of three is not bad!
